I like books. I like to talk about books and look at them and smell them. I like to make lists about books. I also like to take pictures of books.

Writer's Block: Almost Famous

What celebrity do you think looks like you? What celebrity do other people say you look like?
I've never noticed a resemblance between me and a celebrity.

In highschool, a male friend told me I looked like the sister in Ginger Snaps. Emily Perkins.

Now, friends tell me I look like Tegan from Tegan and Sara.

I still don't see the resemblance with either.
I keep telling my friends that it has to be the personality and the way I talk that makes them think I "look" like Tegan.

WUT?Collapse )

Grab the book nearest you. Right now. Turn to page 24. Find the sixth sentence. Post that sentence along with these instructions in your LiveJournal. Don't dig for your favourite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

Now, I will be honest and say that the closet book to me was a Grade 11 Chemistry textbook. But it's not mine so I felt justified in not using it.

There are a lot of things we see most often in December, like caroling, potato latkes, mistletoe, mulled wine, eggnog, and returning gifts. What's your favorite holiday tradition?

My favorite tradition is probably the one where I stare at the snow and get all nostalgic.
Also, I'll get all weepy remembering my cat, who died 3 years ago at this time.

Having everyone at my family's home for Christmas Eve is pretty much all we've done every year for the last 4 or 5.
I'm not that big a fan of any holidays really. I hate the idea of stuffing my face. I hate gift giving. Never been good at it. Never had the money to bother.
I did get a pretty good gift for Tee last year. She liked the necklace and got a little teary at the card. I will admit, it was well written. Though I hardly remember what it said.

WOW, THAT'S SOME GOOD LIGHTING CHOICE.
OOOH, TEGAN.

Writer's Block: R.E.A.D. in America Day

In celebration of R.E.A.D. in America Day, tell us about what you're reading. How is reading important to you? What would you recommend to others?

I'm currently reading Einstein's Dreams by Alan Lightman and I've just finished reading A Wolf at the Table by Augusten Burroughs.

I go through periods of reading book after book with almost no pause in between. The rest of the time I go back and reread all my favorites. Ex; The Romantic by Barbara Gowdy, His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman, Spin & Axis by Robert Charles Wilson, Harry Potter.. I'm in love with books. Even if I didn't read them I'd probably still go to the library just to smell and feel the pages.

I'd recommend everything Augusten Burroughs has written, even though I've only read 2 memoirs and a couple of his short stories. I love him. I even dreamt about him last night..in an entirely platonic way. I'm that obsessed.

This is an old journal. I'm going to use it write things I don't want to write in my new one.
